Update…

It seems it’s been a while since we’ve posted.  We haven’t been up to much.  My sister came earlier this month, we showed her around and had a great time. We took one weekend to go up north to Takayama. It’s an old town in the mountains and people say it is like old Kyoto.

Since then we’ve just been plugging away at life I guess.  The past couple of weekends we’ve been able to get out of the city to go hiking and even to the beach about 2 hours away from Nagoya.  The weather here has been fabulous. It feels like Seattle in late July early August, well perhaps a bit cooler but mostly the same.  The nights cool off and the days are comfortable.. of course the girls are wearing snow boots and snow caps (not kidding) but then they are also still sporting those tiny little shorts, so its not cold yet. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of Fall, some say its the best season with the nice weather (zero humidity) and the changing of the leaves.  Reminds me of the East Coast of the US…

Last night we went to see Sigur Ros here in town.  I’ve listened to them for the past couple of years (thanks to Stephen’s musical education) but they were really phenomenal in concert.  If you haven’t heard of them, check them out (http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/). They are an Icelandic group with afew songs in English touring for with their new album “Med Sed”. Of course I found myself wishing I understood Icelandic as we experienced their music but then again living in Japan I am always wishing I spoke more languages.  It was amazing to see how they are able to make their sounds… the main singer amounst other instruments plays the guitar with a bow… as in a bass or violin bow.  I’d never seen anything like it… Stephen was impressed and also enjoyed the night.  Anyway, we had a blast!

Today we are flying out to Okinawa for the weekend, my birthday is actually tomorrow (wahoo!) and we are planning to go scuba diving again.  I’m excited for a little exploration and relaxation on the beach… we’ll be sure to post some photos when we return.

Guess that’s all for now….
